Lamps with motion sensor

The lamp device with a motion sensor (DD) is not much different from the design of a conventional led. The sensitive sensor itself is integrated inside the bulb, in front of the diffuser.

Internal device built-in chip DD

If a chip is also built in that reads the illumination, then it is placed next to the motion sensor.

The motion sensor integrates as close to the diffuser as possible to increase sensitivity. The radius of its action reaches 8 m.

In addition to the built-in chips, there are external ones: the device is located outside the light source. Undoubtedly, the integrated chip is much more convenient, easier to use.

Motion sensors have their drawbacks: false alarms on animals or a hot object (battery). The correct sensitivity settings help to avoid this.

The principle of operation of the sensor depends on its type. The infrared chip registers not the moving body itself, but the heat emanating from it. Heat, which is also infrared radiation, passes through the Fresnel lens and enters a sensitive sensor. As soon as the sensor “caught” the signal, it gives a command to ignite the light. As a rule, the lamp lights up for a strictly defined period of time, after which it goes out. Infrared sensors do not capture the heat of a stationary object poorly: if a person froze for some reason, the light may go out.

The operation of ultrasonic chips is based on the emission of ultrasonic waves with a frequency of 20 to 60 kHz. When meeting with a moving object, the waves are reflected from it, the sensor captures this and applies voltage to the light source. When the moving body is out of range, the relay disconnects the voltage.

The principle of operation of microwave sensors is similar to ultrasonic. The chip generates not ultrasonic, but electromagnetic waves with a frequency of about 5.8 GHz. When meeting with the movement of the wave, the speed is changed, the sensor fixes and closes the contacts of the electricity supply to the lamp.

Combined systems assemble several chips at once. Often a photo relay is added to the motion sensors, which analyzes the level of illumination: this prevents the operation of the lamps in the daytime.

Types and types of controllers

Depending on the method of receiving the signal, two types of controllers are distinguished: active and passive.

The active controller consists of a receiver and a radiator. He himself sends a signal (waves of different nature) to the object, then tracks changes in the interference pattern of the reflected waves. If there are changes, the detector is triggered - the light is turned on. Ultrasonic, microwave chips have an active controller.

A passive controller through a Fresnel lens tracks, captures changes in the movement of thermal bodies. Static objects will not be detected by the sensor. Its device is much simpler, they are cheaper, but they are mistaken much more often. These include infrared sensors.

Types of luminaires with motion sensors

Portable lamp with DD

Lamps with DD are portable and stationary.

Portable work on batteries or accumulators, which increases their mobility. Portable light sources can be used regardless of the presence of a nearby outlet. In some cases, a solar panel is built in.

Stationary ones require connection to a voltage source: sockets, junction box, etc.

Depending on the location of the lamps, street models, ceiling, wall are distinguished.

Street lamps with DD are used to illuminate local areas, squares, squares, etc. They can be placed on the visors porch, street poles, any other structures. Connection can direct or bypass through the switch. In all cases, grounding is required. Street lamps with DD are able to withstand low temperatures, high humidity.

Ceiling and wall lights with DD illuminate the interior: porches, basements, warehouses, garages, etc. Depending on the purpose, layout of the room, they can be located on the ceiling or on the wall. For indoor lighting, infrared sensors are well suited. As a rule, luminaires are suitable immediately for both installation methods.

Lamp with infrared detector

Such light sources are suitable solely for indoor use. On the street, an infrared chip will not work well due to constant temperature changes. But for the porch, store, etc. such light sources will become an inexpensive, fairly reliable option to save electricity.

It is worth noting their shortcomings: false alarms on animals or other hot objects, shutdown in case of immobility of the object. However, this can be minimized by the chip sensitivity settings.

Ultrasonic and microwave options

Lamps with sensors of these types are universal: they work well outdoors and indoors.

However, ultrasonic sensors adversely affect animals that are able to capture such frequencies. In addition, they have a rather limited range and low accuracy. Therefore, the street is a good option for placing fixtures with ultrasonic DD.

Lamps with microwave sensors are best used for lighting industrial and industrial premises. Their action is designed for the passage of interior partitions.

Combined

Lamps with combined sensors include several types at once: for example, infrared and microwave. In addition, they are equipped with photorelay, several readers, control devices. Such lamps are expensive, but are able to be integrated into the system of "smart home", run from the control panel.

The scope of such lamps

Street lamp with DD

Typically, lamps with DD are used in places where constant light is not needed, and people appear for a short period of time. These include corridors, porches, warehouses, industrial facilities, a house adjoining territory, and parking lots. In some countries, sensors are integrated into street lighting. In the case of using DD on the street, a light photorelay is jointly installed.

Installation tips

Installation goals may vary.

First you need to determine the purpose of installing the DD, and then choose the right place. Experts advise indoor hanging lamps with sensors on the ceiling, so the maximum coverage area is achieved. If you need to service a narrower area, you can hang the lamp on the wall. Keep in mind that almost all sensor lamps are suitable for wall and ceiling mounting.

For internal installation, pay attention that nothing interferes with the sensor: air conditioners, heating pipes, warm air flows, other warm objects. They will cause false positives. When used outdoors, there should be no trees or bushes in the sensor coverage area. The operation of street sensors can be affected by power lines, cell towers, large highways.

Mounting a lighting device with a motion sensor

Consider the internal installation of the luminaire with DD.

  • Prepare the fixture for installation: insert special rubber gaskets into the cable holes.
  • Disconnect the room.
  • Insert the power cable into the lamp housing.
  • Fix the lamp housing to a wall or ceiling.
  • Remove the braid from the cable, strip the neutral and phase wires from insulation to a length of approximately 7 mm.
  • Connect the phase wire to terminal L, and the neutral wire to terminal N. Terminal L ’will remain unused. It can be used to connect other lamps or other equipment.

Connecting a lamp with a remote sensor

Connecting such a lamp begins with the installation of a sensor:

  • To do this, determine the installation location with the best viewing angle.
  • Attach the stand, which must be removed from the sensor. Fix at a height of at least 240 cm.
  • Strip the ends of the supply wire from insulation to a length of approximately 10 mm.
  • Open the sensor terminal box cover, connect the neutral and phase wires to the supply wire. Insulate joints.

Next, the sensor and the light source are connected: a phase is connected to one end of the lamp, the place of fastening is isolated. The other end of the lamp is connected to the neutral wire of the sensor. If you mix the phases, then the DD will not work. In this case, it is enough to swap the wires.

Which lamp to choose

Color temperature is important for indoor lighting.

The choice of a luminaire with DD depends on the place of its application. For street lighting fixtures must withstand temperature extremes, precipitation. The street lamp ip starts at ip50.

Indoor is important power: the higher the illuminated area, the greater the power. It is also worth paying attention to:

  • luminous flux or brightness
  • ip no less than ip40,
  • color temperature: warm, neutral or cold,
  • scattering angle: it should be maximum so as not to limit the view of the DD,
  • dimensions (the parameter is important when installing the lamp in a specific lamp),
  • DD parameters: time to automatic shutdown, angle, range,
  • cost.

One of the selection criteria: manufacturer. Devices of reliable global manufacturers are more expensive, but will last longer. To avoid fakes of famous brands, it is worth buying products in specialized stores.

Quality luminaire manufacturers with motion detection

The Chinese manufacturer Feron was one of the first to appear on the market. His products are characterized by high luminous flux.

The German company Steinel produces good luminaires with infrared sensors. Kanlux and Euroelectric have also proven themselves.

Hardt company produces fixtures in a special waterproof, dustproof design. They are suitable for utilities.

For adjoining territories and parking lots, the company manufactures Delux.

Parameter adjustment

Adjustment buttons are located on the body.

Motion sensors can be customized. Correction lends itself to such parameters as:

  • TIME - the time during which the light source will shine (usually 5-10 s),
  • SENS - sensitivity - response speed of a light source to the appearance of an object of movement,
  • LUX - the level of illumination, at the lower level of which the lighting will be turned on.

Typically, tuning is done directly on the lamp by experience.

Advantages and disadvantages

The benefits include:

  • the ability to automate lighting systems, minimizing manual control,
  • energy saving
  • universality: any lamp can be supplemented with a motion sensor,
  • a large selection of design solutions (relevant for landscape design),
  • long service life
  • the ability to connect an alarm to DD.

Of the shortcomings are noted:

  • false positives
  • high price,
  • the infrared sensor does not notice a movement that is perpendicular to it,
  • ultrasonic sensors adversely affect animals,
  • microwave, ultrasonic DDs are unsuitable for use in crowded rooms.

Description of luminaires with motion sensor

LED lamps are by far the most efficient, economical and affordable lighting fixtures among the whole variety of models and lines in the lighting market. But, for even greater savings, a special element is additionally installed to the luminaire - a sensor that opens and closes the circuit according to the established program.

Even with low power consumption, the LED lamp, working around the clock, wraps a certain amount of electricity. But if it is not possible to regularly turn it on and off as necessary, the sensor movement and light with various characteristics perfectly copes with it. There are several options. dAtchikov: acoustic, optical, optical-acoustic and microwave. Each of these types has its advantages, so the choice depends on the tasks and operating conditions.

Helpful information

Lamps with light sensors are not much different from other devices of ordinary varieties. The difference in a special sensor that responds to changes:

  1. Moving objects.
  2. Change in temperature.
  3. Another composition of air.
  4. Another wavelength range.

The moment of power on and off is determined separately by the sensor.

Fields of application

Luminaires with motion sensors are known for a wide range of applications. More often such designs are used where people do not appear constantly. In this case, the operation mode of the following premises will be economical:

  • Territories adjacent to the houses.
  • Entrance groups.
  • Stairwells.
  • The entrances.
  • Halls.
  • Corridors.

  1. Red. Suitable for poultry farms, livestock complexes.
  2. White or warm. Choose for office, industrial premises.
  3. Cold white. Option for outdoor conditions.

Benefits

The advantages include the following product characteristics:

  • Minimum heating of sources from which light comes.
  • No ultraviolet radiation. Infrared in a minimal amount.
  • Compact sizes when compared with lamps belonging to other varieties.
  • Environmental friendliness and safety.
  • Economical energy consumption.

Disadvantages

There are other characteristics that some of the buyers would mark as negative:

  1. The manufacturer sets a guarantee of only 3-5 years. The payback period of the device is in 5 years.
  2. Light with a narrow focus. To create the usual level of illumination with a high probability, you will have to buy additional lamps.
  3. High need to constantly maintain tension. The operation of the device ceases to be stable if voltage drops occur.
  4. The high cost of light sources.

The main thing is to take into account the initial operating conditions, choosing the appropriate option.

Principle of operation

The signal source for such equipment is an ultra-sensitive infrared device. It is characterized by reliability, reasonable prices. The polyelectric effect allows the installation to work. A moving object has a so-called infrared radiation. It goes to the sensor through the Fresnel lens. The light turns on for a set period of time when the object is fixed in the cameras.

Construction and filling

Touch IR sensor holds pyroelements inside. Try to position for maximum visibility. Each element during operation is complemented by other parts of the structure:

  • A set of optical Fresnel lenses.
  • Comparison Scheme.

The sensor itself is mounted in several ways:

  1. Inside the device case.
  2. In a separate housing.
  3. In a separate housing mounted on the lamp.
  4. Offline. Then the sensor is placed in any place requiring additional viewing or lighting.

Varieties

Motion sensors are on the market in a large assortment, as are the lamps themselves. Each model has positive and negative qualities that are taken into account by customers when purchasing.

Types of sensors

The action sensors of different groups differ from each other by the principle of action.

One of the most popular types of sensors. Works when objects change temperature while moving. A safe control option that is easy to adjust to the required parameters. Of the disadvantages - false alarms, for example, for heating appliances located in the apartment.

Able to see the difference between living, inanimate objects. It functions successfully even indoors with constantly high humidity. The disadvantage is a negative effect on animals, a short range of action.

It works when a certain signal changes frequency. The work is based on the use of electromagnetic waves. Work is carried out in several zones at once. But the sensor is very sensitive, the slightest movements and changes lead to false positives. Even moving outside the window acts like that.

Universality, accuracy are characteristic features of models. Inside, several sensors are combined at the same time, but the device also becomes more expensive because of this. Suitable for wall, outdoor placement.

Types of fixtures by location

Models vary depending on the location used to install the structure. The installation site is chosen according to personal preference. They also rely on functions for lighting during operation.

Views by light source

The design and tasks will affect the choice of a particular light source for the model. Motion sensors save energy regardless of design features. They save you from manually turning on / off the light in places where patency is inconsistent.

Diode

The most economical option, it consumes energy 8-10 times less than conventional incandescent devices. A durable light source, while the characteristics of the latter are as close as possible to natural light. The standard working resource is 30-50 thousand hours. Such constructions do not heat up much, there are no restrictions on inclusions.

Led (ice)

Known for a long shelf life of up to 5 years. Light output is 5 times higher than conventional incandescent lamps with approximately the same characteristics. Of the main advantages, the characteristics are noted:

  1. Profitability.
  2. Low working temperature.
  3. Light emission from a colder spectrum. But for someone, this property will be more likely a drawback.

Types of execution

The characteristics, performance and functionality of the models have some differences, although the general principle of operation of the device remains approximately the same. It is necessary to study in advance the approximate characteristics of the device and the installation location. Only in this case, the choice for the buyer is simplified.

Spot

They can be integrated in suspended ceilings or in plasterboard suspended structures. Mounting elements distinguish different depending on the personal preferences of future owners.

One of the most common models is a spacer. She suggests that the lamp is held by the surface of the ceiling with the help of special spring-loaded “ears”. The lamp is placed in a special hole prepared in advance. The device is pressed against the surface of the ceiling as tightly as possible. Only the outer part of the lamp is open to prying eyes. The remaining parts are hidden in the space between the ceiling and the tension structure.

Lamps

Ordinary bulbs that can be mounted on the ceiling by themselves or with the help of additional elements. The latest novelty is when several luminaires are located on one bus at once.

Usually they are hung on special brackets, mounted on the surface, or screwed directly to the base material. There are also several connection options: through a conventional outlet or by connecting to a common electrical system at home. Management can arrange a special switch.

Specifications

LED luminaires with motion sensors are combined types of devices. Therefore, it is necessary to take into account the difference between the parameters of the lamp itself and the sensor, which comes as an addition to the main design. The LED emitter has the following basic parameters:

  • Level of protection against dust with moisture.
  • The voltage required for power.
  • Scattering angle for luminous flux.
  • Luminous flux with Lumen unit.
  • The number of LED diodes inside the case that emit energy.
  • Operating temperature for heating elements.
  • Color temperature that affects perception.
  • Power measured in watts. Affects the consumption of electrical energy.

The built-in infrared sensors have less quantitative characteristics:

  1. Operating temperature range. Determines whether it is convenient to use the device under various environmental conditions, including extreme ones.
  2. Maximum viewing angle.
  3. Sensitivity affecting range.

Life time

By default, it ranges from 30 to 50 thousand hours, which is much larger compared to other existing counterparts. The correct attitude during operation increases the rate.

Light sensor and its requirements

Here, users are given several recommendations to facilitate their selection:

  • The degree of protection IP is not less than 55. IP44 is permissible only for models installed under special awnings.
  • Examine existing obstacles that can affect the operation of the device.
  • A viewing angle of 360 degrees is suitable for rooms where they enter from several sides.

Another useful feature is animal protection.

Battery powered

Equipped with their own power sources, which are just the batteries, or batteries. The disadvantage is that they must be constantly monitored. But this option is relevant in the case of non-electrified facilities or other places for which it is impractical to lay wiring.

For home

When choosing a lamp, the following basic rules apply:

  1. The glow does not affect the service life and other characteristics. Few people care, it becomes colder or warmer over time.
  2. The reflective surface of walls and floors is important.
  3. The slope of the plate is also important, it fundamentally changes the perception of the surrounding space.
  4. From 110 to 160 degrees, the standard angle of illumination of the LED lamp fluctuates.
  5. LEDs do not have a direct light source.

The remaining technical parameters are described above.

For an apartment

External, laid on and internal - some varieties of lamps that are purchased for residential premises. Overhead options are convenient in that the owners make minimal efforts during installation. With infrared DD, wall models are available. Ceiling models are more suitable for high ceilings and large areas.

For the street

The range of such devices is up to 500 meters. Systems have been operating for many years, allow the use of any light elements. Wireless designs differ in that they are virtually independent of wires and cables. It is better to take LED lights that allow you to adjust the sensitivity for different objects.

Connection to a remote sensor

The connection sequence in this case is as follows:

  • The lamp is taken out of the box along with the sensor, inspect the device.
  • A mounting bracket is mounted on the wall. A lamp is mounted on it, fixing is carried out using special bolts.
  • Connection is performed according to the scheme. The wire and phase of the network are connected to each other through the terminal box. The zero conductors of the lamp, network and sensor are also connected. The phase wire connects to the remaining free cable.

Tilt angle

To do this, rotate the lamp on an existing support until the optimal position is selected. The electronic level helps to select the required value. The product characteristics table indicates which range should be adhered to in a particular case.

Care and maintenance

Lamps with auto power on are no more complicated than other electronic devices in this regard. It is enough to protect the device from mechanical damage, dust and moisture. In case of problems with the case or an external cord, the lamp is handed over to workshops. Disconnection from the network is mandatory during operation with long interruptions.
LED luminaires with motion sensors provide additional savings for the owner. The benefit of using such a device is obvious if the operating conditions recommended by the manufacturer are complied with. It remains to choose a suitable model.
